A Clinical Analysis of the Lisfranc Fracture Dislocation

Abstract
Tarsometatarsal fracture-dislocation is an uncommon but severe lesion. Since this diagnosis is overlooked in about 20% cases, accurate radiographic examination is imperative.
Fracture-dislocation involving the tarsometatarsal region have been known for many years. In spite of this recognition, there are many arguments regarding the incidence, mechanism, treament and prognosis of the injury.
The authors had reviewed 7 cases of Lisfranc fracture-dislocation from January 1988 to February 1992. The average duration of follow-uP was one year.
A good to excellent functional result was obtained in cases of open reduction and internal fixation with K-wire.
